Health & Wellness
- Dr. Peter Attia Dr. Attia is my first stop whenever I want to investigate a topic on health and longevity. He is thoughtful, rigorous and curious. His books, his website and his podcast are all excellent resources with (in my view) a high degree of credibility. In a world where experts appeal to authority without providing evidence, misinterpret research, and making unwarranted or misleading conclusions, he consistently speaks with nuance and precision and always cites his sources. That is not to say he is perfect or infallible. In fact, he has shown that his opinions are subject to revision and update over time. I consider this ability/willingness to update one’s positions in light of new or changing evidence to be indispensable.
- Dr. Rhonda Patrick From a testimonial on the cover of her website: “Rhonda Patrick is a one-stop shop for the best translation of cutting edge science. She is an intensely rigorous thinker and clear translator of science, a reliable source on all things related to healthy aging.” (quote from Elissa Epel, PhD) I couldn’t have said it better myself, so I won’t try.
Productivity & Systems
- Tim Ferriss I have never met him, corresponded with him or seen him speak in person but I consider him a mentor. For those unfamiliar, Tim is the author of the 4-hour workweek (as well as several other great books) and the host of “The Tim Ferriss Show” podcast where he interviews world class performers from every background imaginable and seeks to discover actionable pieces of wisdom. Following his work and listening to him interviewing others will force you to think differently and challenge your assumptions about what is possible for you personally and professionally.
- James Clear An incredible systems thinker and a great resource for those seeking to understand how best to effectively change their behavior. His book, “Atomic Habits” is one of my favorites, and his website and weekly “3-2-1” newsletter are constant sources of thought-provoking quotes, reflections and articles.
- Ray Dalio Ray Dalio is arguably the most successful hedge fund manager of all time (Bridgewater Associates). His book “Principles” is an all-time favorite and he does a wonderful job both in his books and in his online materials in laying out a methodical approach to developing your own principles and systems.
